Q. When is the application deadline?

A. December 1.

Q. Can I apply online?

A. Yes, all applications must be submitted online.

Q. Is there an application fee?

A. The application fee is $75, which is due before we can begin processing your application.

Q. Is an English proficiency test required for international applicants?

A. If you are not a citizen of a country whose official languages include English; a graduate of a regionally accredited institution in the U.S.; a graduate of an institution whose language of instruction is English and located in a country whose official language includes English, you must submit tests scores from one of the following English language proficiency tests: Duolingo English Test, TOEFL, or IELTS exam.

Q. How do I submit TOEFL results?

A. TOEFL scores will need to be sent directly to the university. A PDF copy of the score report can be uploaded to your application under "Academic History, Standardized Test for TOEFL" as an unofficial copy until your official scores are received. Please use the following codes in the online application: Institution Code: 2927.

Q. How do I submit IELTS results?

A. IELTS results must be sent electronically to the University of Pittsburgh by the University of Cambridge. IELTS report will need to be sent directly to the university. A PDF copy of the score report can be uploaded to your application under "Academic History, Standardized Test for IELTS" as an unofficial copy until your official scores are received.

Q. How do I submit Duolingo test results?

A. Duolingo scores must be shared by uploading a PDF copy of the score report to your application under "Academic History, Standardized Test for Duolingo" or reach out to GradCAS to have them attached to your application.

Q. How are graduate students supported?

A. All students are fully supported while they are in graduate school. The current annual stipend is $33,360 plus tuition remission and health care.

Q. How many students enter the CNUP program each year?

A. We strive to matriculate approximately 12-15 students annually.

Q. What does the CNUP's admissions committee look for in the applications to the graduate training program?

A. Four variables are considered in the initial evaluation. By far the most important is prior research experience; we generally do not consider an applicant who has not yet spent some time in a research laboratory. Also important are letters of reference (especially from a research mentor), statement of goals, and courses and grades (especially in natural sciences). Promising applicants currently residing in North America are invited for an interview on campus. Those applicants residing outside of North America may be selected for telephone interviews.=

Q. What is the typical profile of grades of students accepted into the CNUP program?

A. Our students typically have at least a QPA of 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale).
