Benefits At A Glance:

Annual Stipend

Stipend support is provided from University fellowships, federally funded research and training grants, and teaching assistantships.  The stipend is $40,000 for the 2023-24 academic year. All students in good academic standing receive guaranteed financial support throughout their graduate careers.

Health Insurance

Excellent health insurance options provide every student with individual medical coverage free of charge; supplementary dental and vision plans are also available. Spouses and children can be included in our medical plans at very reasonable costs.

Tuition Waiver

Graduate tuition can be expensive. In our program, tuition is paid in full each and every term. Depending on your residency status, this benefit can amount to over $19,000 per term.

Educational Enrichment

A one-time $2000 educational enrichment account is provided to each first-year student for the purchase of items or services that will enrich their graduate education.

Health Services

CNUP also pays the University's Student Health Service Fee for every student, every term. Its protection range spans the length of the school term, from the official first day of classes to the official last day of classes. The Fee was designed to provide students with virtually unlimited access to the majority of medical services available at the Student Health Service facility at little or no additional cost.

Counseling

The Counseling Center provides personal and academic counseling to graduate students at the University of Pittsburgh. The Center is staffed by psychologists, counselors, social workers,  a psychiatrist, and pre-doctoral interns, and the services rendered to students are free and confidential.

Free Transportation

The University of Pittsburgh has arranged for free transportation throughout Allegheny County via the Port Authority Transit bus system. Any bus, trolley, and incline is free, including those to downtown and the airport.

Fitness And Sports Facilities

All full-time Pitt students have access to the University's fitness, sports, and aquatic facilities, including the opportunity to receive a free fitness assessment and one-on-one meeting with a fitness center staff member to devise an exercise program.
