The Friday Seminar Series is a biweekly seminar featuring two, 25-minute, research presentations from graduate students, post docs, research technicians, and
junior faculty members. The seminars include speakers from several departments across campus and cover a wide range of neuroscience-related research topics. A happy hour with pizza and beer are provided to help foster informal discussions amongst scientists within the diverse neuroscience community at Pitt. The goal of this seminar series is to provide additional training opportunities and to enhance the collaborative environment across labs and departments. If you would like more information about the Friday Seminar Series or would like to give a talk, please contact Amanda Henton at firstname.lastname@example.org or Thais Rafael Guimaraes at email@example.com
Each fall, the center sponsors an annual retreat at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center, a serene 1,700-acre resort nestled in the hills of nearby West Virginia. This extremely popular event is open to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, medical residents, and training faculty, and annually attracts more than 150 attendees. The retreat is a blend of academic, social, and outdoor activities. Prominent visiting scientists deliver formal presentations, followed by trainee-led discussions. Most of the weekend is devoted to relaxed and informal interactions between trainees, CNUP faculty, and the keynote speakers.
